Novi Reandy Sasmita (NRS) is an Indonesian academic and researcher serving as a lecturer in the Department of Statistics at Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) in Banda Aceh, Indonesia. He holds a Bachelor of Science (S.Si) in Mathematics from USK and a Master of Science (M.Sc) in Epidemiology from Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Thailand, where his graduate studies were supported by a prestigious scholarship from the Fogarty International Center of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). NRS specializes in biostatistics, epidemiology, and environmental statistics, contributing valuable quantitative insights to public health and ecological challenges in Indonesia.
His academic career is marked by a strong commitment to both high-impact research. NRS's notable research includes mathematical modeling of COVID-19 progression, stochastic projections for tuberculosis elimination, and the development of machine learning tools for environmental monitoring, such as upwelling prediction in Lake Laut Tawar. His excellence in service and innovation has been recognized through numerous accolades, including the Bayer Young Environmental Envoy award and his 2024 role as a faculty supervisor for a student team that won the Favorite Award at the 37th National Student Scientific Week (PIMNAS). Furthermore, NRS has bridged the gap between theoretical data and practical application by authoring the book "Analisis Data Kesehatan: Teori Statistika dan Aplikasi dengan R" (Health Data Analysis: Statistical Theory and Practice with R) Beyond the classroom, he contributes to the broader scientific community as an editorial board member for several health and data science journals and through his statistical consulting initiative, Solusi Statistika (SoStat).
