"I have known Novi Reandy Sasmita very well since we first met in Aceh in 2013. Eventually, he came to study for a Master of Epidemiology at Prince of Songkla University, where I was the curriculum chairman. He worked very hard and beautifully completed his thesis on math modeling of Tuberculosis in Indonesia. He published that and other subsequent papers very well which demonstrate his being an independent researcher. I expect to see him as an academic leader in the future." (May 16, 2026)

Even then, his sharp intellect and genuine passion for research were evident. It has been wonderful to see him channel that same energy into active and productive writing recently. Beyond his academic abilities, Novi is simply a very good person: kind, smart, always helpful, and easy-going with a great sense of humor. He treats everyone with respect, and I was happy to sit with him every day. It’s rare to find someone so talented who is also so genuinely decent. I wholeheartedly recommend Novi.
