On April 3–4, 2026, amid a series of work commitments in Langsa (Aceh Province) and Medan (North Sumatera Province), I made it a priority to reconnect with several former students whom I had the privilege of supervising during their undergraduate theses. These reunions were not only moments of nostalgia but also meaningful opportunities to witness their personal and professional growth.
On April 3, while in Langsa, I met with Apt. Husna Ath Thaariq, S.Farm at Omniia Coffee Eatery and Homestay. The atmosphere was warm and relaxed, perfectly setting the tone for a heartfelt conversation. We reminisced about the challenges and memorable moments during her thesis journey, occasionally punctuated by laughter. Husna shared that she is now working as a pharmacist at RS Pertamina IHC Rantau in Aceh Tamiang, a role she carries with dedication and pride. Hearing about her journey and current responsibilities was both fulfilling and inspiring.
The following day in Medan, the gathering continued with Reksi Utami, S.Stat., Apt. Afrida Yanti, S.Farm., Mhd Khairul, S.Stat., and Novita Sari Saragih, S.Stat. The meeting felt like a small reunion filled with lively discussions, shared memories, and genuine camaraderie. Each of them spoke enthusiastically about their current paths: Reksi is now contributing to a digital agency startup in Medan, Afrida is serving as a pharmacist staff at PT Mutiara Mukti Farma, Novita is building her career at Home Credit Indonesia, and Khairul is working as a civil servant in Sectoral Statistics Division at Department of Communication and Information Technology (Kominfo)-Simalungun Regency. Listening to their stories was a reminder of how far they have come since their student days.

In addition, two other students I had previously advised, Zuhra Adha, S.Stat., and Tiara Putri Adlina, S.Stat., were also supposed to attend the meeting. However, they were unable to attend due to other unexpected agenda. Nevertheless, they remain connected in spirit. Zuhra is currently working at Pertamina Patra Niaga in Medan, while Tiara is pursuing her career at Bank Sumut.
These brief yet meaningful encounters brought a sense of fulfillment and gratitude. Beyond academic guidance, it is the continued connection and shared journeys that truly define the relationship between a mentor and their students. The laughter, stories, and reflections over those two days served as a gentle reminder that education extends far beyond the classroom. It lives on through people, progress, and enduring bonds.
